In the recent period, several cases of food scandal have been disclosed on various media, such as tainted steamed buns sold in the highly-reputated supermarkets, lean meat powder added to pig feed. Food security has become a hot topic across society.
This kind of shameful behavior, which places their own interests on the basis of others” lives, hurts common people and influences social security. Furthermore, these cases reveal the declining of morality and inefficiency of related government branches. During the course of rapid social development, moral education has been ignored, which gives rise to the increasing rate of the problem. More importantly, the lack of adequate regulation and punishment on those illegal producers fosters the trend.
“It is better late than never.” A massive moral campaign should be launched to educate all citizens. Apart from moral condemnation, it also requires integral efforts from different authorities, especially the law enforcement departments and supervisory bodies. I am firmly convinced that through combined efforts we will enjoy more risk-free foods in the days ahead.
