霍华德大学 简介
霍华德大学(Howard University)成立于1867年，是一所综合类的私立大学，为全美著名的黑人大学，有86%的黑人学生。大学以心理学、政治和化学最好。其他较佳的学科，有会计、商科管理、工程、社会工作、动物 学和大众传播。前一两年共有5,660人投考，录取率为41%。
地理位置
大学位于美国首都华盛顿特区，华盛顿特区通常称为华府，以避免和位于太平洋岸同名的华盛顿州混淆。华府占地67英哩，坐西朝东。阿帕拉契山为背，波多马克河为水，子午主轴是以北边的白宫和南端的华盛顿纪念碑，东西向主轴为东边的国会大厦和西边的林肯纪念堂。这种格局是很严密的中国宫廷式的格局。
华府这个城市是按照美国首任总统华盛顿的理念建立的，而且是根据法国建筑工程技师殷范提设计规划的。华府市街恰似棋盘方格，区划井然有序，既没有耸入云霄的高楼大厦，也没有炫耀入目的霓虹灯，街道建筑大多平实，并以格子状辐射开来，很像中国几个著名的古都。在这个艺术文化气息浓厚的城市中，只要留心观察，就能察觉到在美国其它大教会中不易看到的中国精髓与东方神韵。
华府广阔平稳，有为数众多的国家公园，处处绿意盎然。很多居民都住公寓，因此这个城市既不必向高空发展，又不至于蔓延到东面的海边，人口中的一大部分，都生活在舒服的环境中，所以在华府看不到无目标地忙碌、行色匆匆的路人，这里的人忙碌而有方向。
华府最值得参观的有史密松宁博物馆、白宫及国会的内部。
