Spring Festival,a time and occasion for Chinese people to celebrate,is coming so that families in China can have a reunion.In spiteof the various mass media of entertainment,watching the yearly “Spring Festival Evening Get-together”,developed by CCTv Channel 1more than two decades ago,remains kind of a habit for most Chinese families.
As a very popular program,it contains all types of performances with which the directors try to suit the tastes of most people.And many people like or ttend to accept it because this is the easiest thing to do ,as many Tv potatoes do.Besides,they could sit together,chatting,laughing ,and taking snack foods.
But many critics are very doubtful about this form of celebration for the festival.it is destroying our Spring Festival tradition,which used to be in forms of parades,neighbourhood or relatives visits and parties,or some spot performances.
In my opinion,it is OK to keep the program,but local goverments,especiallythose in the countryside,should promote alternative ways of celebration,coloured by our tradition,since this is a typical chinese festival.
